In P.A.S. HOPFAN, there are the words “Act” and “Serve” (Pray-Act-Serve, or P.A.S.). This is the basis of the actions of the NGO in the humanitarian and social fields, in accordance with the Word of GOD.
Indeed, JESUS CHRIST, our Master, specified to us in James 1:27 that, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
GOD is Love, and He expects all those who serve Him to manifest this same unconditional Love around them, according to His Word (the Bible) and under the guidance of His Holy Spirit who teaches us all things and reveals to us the hidden things. Thus, Leviticus 25:35 calls out to all of us, “If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you.”
Deuteronomy 15:11 is also clear on this point: “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded towards your brothers and towards the poor and needy in your land.”
Haven’t we all, at some point in our lives, been supported by men or women, or even children, who had met some of our specific needs? So, when we have the opportunity to support others, let us be led by the Holy Spirit of the Living GOD, in His unconditional Love, to help them. Let us do it with a good heart, because GOD looks at the intentions of our heart, and with joy, that Joy which is in CHRIST.
In Psalms 41:1-3, King David encourages us by saying, “1. Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. 2. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. 3. The LORD will sustain him on his sick-bed and restore him from his bed of illness.”
And King Solomon’s wisdom in Proverbs 14:31 is also encouraging: “He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honours God.”
In addition to helping those in need, GOD calls us to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”) and to act for others in His unconditional Love, Compassion, Grace, Truth, Faithfulness, and Justice. Following the example of our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST (YAHSHUA).
May we honor our Heavenly Father YAHWEH, in all our actions, words and thoughts, for His Glory and Honor alone.
Shalom!
